On November 16, 2016, at Amigas del Señor Methodist Monastery, I was consecrated to be a nun for the rest of my life.  Like Anna in the Gospel of Luke, I have the great privilege of living in the house of God night and day.  Anna's dedication to God through prayer and fasting opened her to recognise the Messiah when he arrived.  Who would have guessed that the saviour of the world would come as a vulnerable child?  Yet Anna saw God in the infant Jesus.

I expect that the simple life of prayer I have chosen will allow me to see and know God in creation and in other people.  In fact, I believe that all of us through regular spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, reading the Bible, communal worship, and serving those in need — can become more open to recognising God’s work in the world around us.

Prayer: Loving God, help us, through your grace, to be open to your presence in our lives.  We pray in the name of Jesus who taught us to pray, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  Amen”.
