The power of prayer

Because of the nature of his occupation, my husband always warned us that he could be transferred from one workplace to another at any time. Even so, when it seemed likely that he would be moved, my husband and I were surprised and discouraged. We dreaded having to start again and adjust to a new environment, possible changes in his work, and our children having to deal with a different situation – in short, a whole new life.

We were facing very difficult days so I decided to seek God’s guidance, declaring a day of prayer. Often in tears, I asked the Lord to provide us a good place according to his will, despite knowing that the answer might be contrary to my desires. A few days later, I was surprised to learn that the place where my husband worked had set up a new policy of letting each worker choose where their future            employment would be.

We will all face major changes in our lives. In this case, God’s answer came sooner than expected, and I know that he heard my prayer andwill be with us no matter where we go. Today I feel more peaceful about any change that the future may bring.

Prayer: God of glory, give us faith and strength so that we can view changes as opportunities to grow spiritually. Amen
