All surpassing power

I had lived my whole life with my hands jerking out of my control. I thought it was normal. It wasn’t until high school that I learned how serious my condition was.

One Sunday morning, I had a grandmal seizure. One moment I was in the kitchen and the next in an ambulance.  I was diagnosed with epilepsy, chronic migraines, and a heart condition that made me susceptible to dizziness.

During my first year at high school, I used a wheelchair because I was too unstable to walk. I felt limited by my health and judged by my peers; but I also kept remembering that no matter how weak I am, God is strong. As believers, we have the all-surpassing power of God inside us. Although my body was unpredictable and weak, I was being upheld by God.

When I became scared or my body tightened as if about to seize, I would call out to him and he would answer. Through all of the seemingly endless doctor’s appointments and emergency hospital visits God never left me. I find comfort in knowing that God lives in me and will never leave me. Despite my diagnosis, I can face each day with renewed faith, knowing that my soul is well and that nothing of this world can crush or destroy me because God is with me.

Prayer: Dear Lord, use us for your purpose and to bring glory to your name. Amen.
