For 40 years, I struggled with a number of issues – from low self-esteem to drug and alcohol abuse – until one day the police came to my door with a search warrant. After turning my house upside down, they led me away in handcuffs. Before I was arrested, I believed in but didn’t have a relationship with God. That was about to change.

As I began to read scripture, I also began to see and feel God’s love. I had lost most of my family and money and I had damaged my health through my addictions. But God never gave up on me. I went back to my childhood church and was welcomed with more love than I had known in quite a while.

Now it is my turn to care for others. Most days I lead and volunteer with addiction recovery groups, a local homeless shelter, a food bank and various Bible studies. God didn’t give up on me. Instead, he helped me to become the person I was created to be.

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, help us to remember that we are always in your loving and trustworthy hands. Strengthen our faith so that we may grow to be more like you. In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen

BSL devotions is such a fantastic resource, thank you so much for starting it up and developing the site. I am a Christian hearing person who works with deaf people and have loved the opportunity to develop my understanding of and use of christian signs through the videos. It would be great to know who all the sign interpreters are as well as those who write the devotional content.
