Prayers during Persecution

Reading about modern-day martyrs has prompted me to pray every day for countries in the world where it is dangerous to be a follower of Jesus. I read about a young girl whose mother threatened to kill her if she accepted Jesus. A young Christian couple who sought to marry received a 15-year prison sentence. Trying to escape, the woman was beaten at the airport and then assaulted by police. The couple is in hiding now.

Situations like these drive me to my knees in prayer for all people who are seeking God—especially those facing circumstances like the ones described above. I have decided to pray for each country in the world over the course of each year. Accordingly, I select a country for each day of the week. Then I pray for God to bless each of those countries. For any country that is hostile to Christianity, I pray that God will raise up individuals who will introduce Christ to their people. I pray that scripture will be made available in more languages and for volunteers who will devote themselves to learning those languages to be able to go and teach. My hope is that the next generation who lives in those countries will learn about Jesus and live by his principles.

Prayer: Defender of the helpless, console and strengthen those who suffer for their faith in you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

I just wanted to congratulate you on this initiative. What an amazing resource for the Deaf community in the UK. Thank God for your obedience in going forward with this. GL
