My Daughter's Wedding

Arranged marriages are still common in India. When it was time for my daughter to marry she left the decision to her family to find a suitable match for her. We asked our friends and church members to look for a groom for her. For three long years we scrutinised a number of potential grooms, but failed to find the right person. We were overcome with frustration and disappointment.

Despite our difficulties we continued to pray with friends and church members for a suitable match. Then Daniel came along and everything fell into place. Soon my daughter and Daniel were married, and our hearts were filled with joy.

Later, when I was reading from Isaiah, I realised that God’s ways and his plans are often different from ours. When things do not go our way at the time we expect, we can fail to see God’s purpose. But he knows what is right for us.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for all your tender mercies. We are ever grateful and indebted to you and we praise your holy name. Amen

I am so thrilled and excited about the BSL version of Deaf Missions Daily Devotions. I have their booklet and been using them for nearly a year. I have good command of English but still struggle with the concept of the context at times. What a difference it has made just watching someone signing the passage so clearly and of superior quality! I notice the USA are far more advanced with access to the Gospel in ASL but now you have made it possible for us. So many thanks for this! May it go from strength to strength. JJ
