A Gift from God

Bible Reading: Acts 16:25-34

In verse 30 of our Bible Reading today, a man asked Paul and Silas an important question.

He said, “Men, what must I do to be saved?”

This man did not yet understand about God’s plan of salvation. Probably the man thought that he had to buy or earn his salvation.

Paul and Silas “told the message of the Lord to the jailer and all the people who lived in his house” (verse 32). “Then the jailer and all his people were baptised” (verse 33b).

Paul says in Ephesians 2:8, “I mean that you have been saved by grace because you believed. You did not save yourselves; it was a gift from God.”

Paul is teaching us that we need to have faith that Jesus lived and died and arose. This faith leads us to follow and obey Jesus.

I hope that you believe in Jesus and follow Him. And I hope that you have asked Him to forgive your sins and help you live for Him each day. —GT

Acts 16:31 “They said to him, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved — you and all who live in your house.’”

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for offering salvation to everyone who believes in Jesus and obeys Him. In His name. Amen.
