Bible Reading: John 17:9,15-21

There are many Bible verses that tell us we should pray for other people. In our Bible Reading today, Jesus prayed to God for His disciples.

In verse 9, Jesus said, “I pray for them now. I am not praying for the people in the world. But I am praying for these people you gave me, because they are yours.”

Then in verse 15, Jesus said, “I am not asking you to take them out of the world. But I am asking that you keep them safe from the Evil One.”

Jesus knows that it is hard to be a Christian and live in the world. That’s why He prayed for His disciples.

In verses 20 and 21, Jesus prayed for people who would follow Him in the future. That means Jesus prayed for you and me!

There are many bad things happening in the world today. We need to always be watching for ways that the devil will tempt us. That’s why it is important for us to pray for each other — just like Jesus prayed for us.

Pray for other Christians today. Then we will all be one in Jesus. —MS

1 Thessalonians 5:25 “Brothers and sisters, please pray for us.”

PRAYER: Father God, please protect my brothers and sisters in Christ as they work for Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
