Hope Like an Anchor

Bible Reading: Hebrews 6:16-19a

Recently I read that an oil company ship slipped its anchor and started drifting in the ocean. The ship was finally stopped and anchored.  But if the ship had not been stopped, it could have become a dangerous situation.

It is important that ships have anchors so they do not drift away.

In the same way, it is important that Christians have “anchors,” too. These “anchors” are things that help us stay close to God.

Our Bible Reading today tells us that God cannot lie. If God cannot lie, that means all of His promises will come true.

God has promised us salvation and eternal life through Jesus. This makes us feel safe and secure. The fact that God keeps His promises is an “anchor” that helps us stay close to Him.

During the next few days, we will learn more about “hope.” But as you face problems and trials today, think about the hope that you have through Jesus. Think about living forever with God. Then praise God for always keeping His promises. —JK

Hebrews 6:19a “This hope is like an anchor for us. It is strong and sure and keeps us safe.”

PRAYER: God, thank You for always keeping Your promises. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
