Washing Feet
When Jesus lived on earth, many people wore sandals and walked on dusty roads. It was a custom to wash the feet of visitors who came to your house.
In our Bible Reading today we learn that Jesus washed His disciples' feet. This showed that Jesus was humble and a true servant.
Jesus told his disciples (verses 14-15), "I am your Lord and Teacher. But I washed your feet. So you also should wash each other's feet. I did this as an example for you. So you should serve each other just as I served you."
Today most of us do not follow the custom of washing feet. So how can we be like Jesus and serve others?
Matthew 25:31-46 tells us that we can serve others by sharing our food, water and clothing. We can also visit people who are sick or in prison.
If we want to be great in God's kingdom, we need to serve other people. Look for opportunities today to serve the people you meet. - JA*
"Those who are sent to do something are not greater than the one who sent them. If you know these things, great blessings will be yours if you do them." John 13:16b-17
