The Goal

Bible Reading: Philippians 3:12-14

Recently I had a pinched nerve, and I was in a lot of pain. I am better now, and I am thankful that I can go for a walk every day.

As I was walking today, I noticed a woman who was walking to her mailbox. She has had arthritis for many years. I could see that she was in pain as she walked, but she didn’t give up. She walked to the mailbox and back. My pain had been temporary, but her pain seems to be permanent.

Paul faced many problems in his Christian life. He was beaten, shipwrecked, and imprisoned. But in our Bible Reading today, Paul talks about his goal of serving God and living forever with Him. Paul did not give up. He continued to serve and obey God.

Maybe you are struggling with a problem today.

Be like Paul and work toward the goal of serving God every day. And remember that you are not alone. God will be with you. —NM

Philippians 3:12 “I don’t mean that I am exactly what God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach it and make it mine. That’s what Christ Jesus wants me to do.”

PRAYER: Dear God, I want to be like Paul and serve You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
