Bible Reading: Daniel 6:1-24
Thursday 25 April 2024 © The Upper Room.

Hebrews, chapter 11, does not mention Daniel. But in verse 32 the writer talks about the faith of the prophets. Daniel was a prophet in the Old Testament who spoke God’s message to people.

Daniel served King Darius. But some men were jealous of Daniel. So they persuaded the king to sign a law saying that for 30 days the people could only pray to the king. If a person prayed to someone other than the king, they would be thrown into a den with lions.

Daniel had faith that God would take care of him no matter what happened. Our Bible verses today tell us that Daniel continued praying “to God three times every day. Three times every day, he bowed down on his knees to pray and praise God” (verse 10b).

Daniel was thrown into the den with the lions. But an angel “closed the lions’ mouths” (verse 22b).

God protected Daniel and blessed him. No matter what you face today, remember that God will be with you and protect you. —JK

Daniel 6:22a “My God sent his angel to save me...The lions have not hurt me because my God knows I am innocent.”

PRAYER: Father, I want to be like Daniel and have faith in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
