The Gospel Through Deeds

When I studied abroad at the Human Rights Institute in Strasbourg, France, I befriended students from Algeria and Tunisia.  Since the program focused on religious rights, we discussed religious freedom in our countries.  We also talked about our personal religious beliefs.  I used this opportunity to share my testimony: I was raised as an atheist in the USSR, but after the Perestroika I accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour.

I also showed my faith through my deeds.  The Bible teaches, “Faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead”.  I assisted my new friends in their studies, shared my notes with them, and helped them cook dinner.  I treated them with respect, and our fellowship was cordial.  I also prayed that Jesus’ light would shine through me.

The apostle Paul wrote, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow”.  We can each do our part in sharing the good news — and trust the Lord to do the rest.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to be doers of the word and not hearers only In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Just wanted to say thank you for making BSL daily devotions available. I am hearing and often sign at church for d/Deaf friends. I am finding this resource very useful in helping me improve my signing skills as well as focussing on God every day, bless you. CR
