Not Afraid

Recently, my doctor told me that I have a rare tumour called dermatofibrosarcoma.  When I heard the news, two choices came to my mind: I can succumb to fear, or I can have faith in Jesus, my Lord.  When I found the wonderful verse above, it helped me not to panic or worry about the bad news that I heard from my doctor.

The Lord assured me that I did not need to fear bad news.  Like the righteous ones in Psalm 112, I could stand steadfast and be encouraged, confidently relying on the Lord.  Yes, the news is bad.  My family depends on me to take care of their daily needs, and I do worry about them.  But I trust in the Lord who promised to be a great help in times of trouble and always to be present with us.

We all face difficulties, but trusting the Lord can relieve us of the weight of worry.  It is easy to let fear control our minds when we hear bad news, but fear will not control us when we put our trust in the Lord.

Prayer: Dear Lord, in times of trouble give us the courage to face each day knowing that you are greater than all our worry and fear.  Amen.
