Darkness and light

I was returning from a cruise over the North Sea. At midnight there was still a primrose glow in the sky. Within a few hours it would be getting lighter, as the sun rose again. There was something deeply comforting in knowing that God was there, in the dimming light, in the short hours of darkness, and in the coming dawn. The sun is always there, whether it is below our horizon or visible to us.

In the same way, God is always present, whether it feels to us as though we are in darkness or in light. We  annot hide in the darkness or hide our darkness from God, ‘for darkness is as light’ to him. I have found this to be true in my own life. Things that have happened, or things I have done, that have caused me sadness, grief or shame, have been healed and transformed, over time, as I have brought them to Christ. He has promised ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to bring you into any areas of darkness in my life, and let you fill them with your healing light and presence. Amen

I am deaf with C.I. - basic BSL, want to learn more. Go to Bridgwater and Weston Super Mare signing church. Have met Gill several times. I think this is a wonderful!! My kind friend Astrid sent me this from Bristol - she has cycled round the world in 2 years - a magical feat! I found life difficult when becoming deaf and decided to make it more `visible` by making BSL jewellery. I have sold some and donate to BSL bible translation, so it is lovely to have this and I will tell my friends about it. JN
