I grew up attending a Christian school and I had a religious instruction class every day. Often we were asked how we saw God in our lives. Every time I would give the same answer: I saw God in my family and in nature. I never really took the question seriously, so I didn’t take the time to reflect on where I saw God in my life.

One day in my chemistry class we learned about the complex elec- tron configurations of atoms. In my frustration at attempting to solve a difficult equation, I thought, ‘Who made this so complicated?’ Then I realised that the same One who created the atoms created every part of our world. God made this planet with water to drink, plants to eat and fresh air to breathe. And Earth is the perfect distance from the sun for humanity to survive. I had already appreciated the God I could see in nature, but I had to look deeper to realise how amazing he is in creating all these complex elements that work together in perfect harmony.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for this beautiful world that you have created. Help us to find your love and compassion in every corner of it. Amen
