Keep pedalling

Several years ago, I invested in a new bike. I rode around my neigh- bourhood, occasionally down to a nearby park, sometimes to my vol- untary job at my church, to the bank and once for a Sunday service. I noticed that while riding, although I needed to be mindful of what was behind me, too much glancing backwards slowed me down and could be dangerous.

Similarly the journey of life requires us to keep moving forward. Dwelling too long on past disappointments, regrets and mistakes can impede God’s purpose for our lives. This is by no means easy. It takes physical, mental and spiritual energy to let go and look to the future. For an example of how to do this, we can look to Jesus who spent time in prayer and taught us to do the same. He knew his Father would see us through. God beckons us to keep pedalling. The answers to our prayers could be just around the corner.

Prayer: Dear God, strengthen us in mind, body and spirit to serve you and to not grow weary in doing good. Amen
