My parents raised five of us on a meagre income. My dad had a very basic education and mother was completely illiterate. At a time when none of the Christian families in our area owned a Bible, my dad   purchased a Bible for me before I was born. One day when I was eleven, my dad told me about the Bible and shared part of today’s reading, ‘Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it’

Hearing my dad read this scripture moved me deeply, and I committed myself to the Lord. I did not inherit gold or silver from my parents, but they gave me a great love for God and for scripture. The blessings I have enjoyed throughout my life are the result of this spiritual inheritance. Now,  as a father and grandfather, the goal of my life is to do the same for my children and grandchildren. I teach them that if we have the whole world at our disposal but do not have the Lord, we have nothing. On the other hand, if we have nothing but the Lord, we are richer than we would be if we had the whole world.

Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for the godly inheritance we have received. Help us to share your love with future generations. Amen
