Worship While You Work

Carrying a bucket of cleaning things, I trudged to clean the campsite bathrooms for what seemed like the fiftieth time. The sun had set on a long day of work; and to combat a drooping spirit, I began singing favourite praise songs. In one song, the lyrics asked for a worshipful attitude that honours God from morning to evening. While repeating the words, I smiled a little, thinking about exalting the king of kings while cleaning mirrors and scrubbing toilets.

The song list continued with Philippians 4:13 set to music, which motivated me to finish with a smile and diligent hands. Despite feeling weary, I shifted my focus to set my mind on things above. While sweeping the floor, I remembered a well-known truth: believers can worship God anywhere. While singing to the creator and wiping down the sinks, I realised that Christians don’t need to be in a church with music to glorify God, but can proclaim his awesome name in the middle of any mundane job.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for leading us to glorify you no matter where we are. Amen
