2nd Sunday in Lent
Author: Brenda Alford (Florida, US)
One season of Lent was especially meaningful for me because of a particular study my church offered. It helped me to relate to the thoughts and actions of many people who were present when Christ was crucified and rose from the dead. I considered the ways I deny Christ by my actions or words—the times I fall asleep when I pray, the times I fail to see God in my daily life. I identified with the doubts and fears of the disciples and I certainly identified with Christ’s cry of abandonment on the cross.
Christ in his humanity experienced many trials. Because of his earthly life Christ understands and helps me when I experience pain, suffering, doubt or feelings of abandonment. Christ is with me to help me endure my own trials. How grateful I am that we serve a risen Saviour who has walked where we walk and who continues to walk with us today!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of your Son. Thank you for understanding our weaknesses and help us to work through them as you live in us and walk with us. Amen
