Experiencing God's Love

My son’s football team has not won any games this season. Each time they play, they get better but not good enough to defeat their opponents. I was unable to attend one of their games, but another mother took pictures and sent them to me. The next day when I was looking at the pictures, I noticed that one picture showed the boys and coaches in prayer. The next one showed the team celebrating with their hands in the air and smiles on their faces. I thought these pictures must have been taken before the game because the team had lost 8–1. But a member of the team told me the pictures had been taken after the game. I asked, ‘Why are you so happy?’ He replied, ‘First, we thanked God for a safe and fun game. After the prayer, our coach told us, “Never lose your passion, no matter what the outcome”, and we just felt like celebrating!’

God loves us and wants us to experience joy, love and victory. We can find something to celebrate even in circumstances that may dictate otherwise. By doing so, we experience the love of God. No matter what life hands us, we can stay strong in our faith and never forget that God is with us.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for loving us. Help us to look for you in every situation so that we can experience your love in all we do. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
