Jolly Hard Work!

This has been a difficult year for farmers in Australia.

After experiencing at least seven years of drought, many of us have faced a series of floods that have destroyed fences and devastated crops and livestock. Recently, a group of people came from a sister church in Sydney, some 750 kilometres away, to give us a hand with our clean-up.

We were feeling overwhelmed with the work ahead; then they arrived and began to drag fences out of the mud and re-erect the posts and wire. It was a messy job and jolly hard work! The fact that they took a week off to come and help us was mind-boggling. By the time they left we felt that we would make it through. We didn’t even know these people, yet they came and demonstrated God’s love to us.

We don’t have to travel to far-off places to do something for God. Sometimes he calls us to care for people in or near our own neighbourhoods.

Prayer: Loving God, thank you for your people who are willing to do whatever it takes to love and serve you by loving and serving others. Amen
