Our Family, God's Family
Author: Brian Gaunt (Yorkshire, England))
Every morning I get up early enough to read the Bible and The Upper Room. It is a good start to my day, and as I read the Bible passage and the meditation, I reflect on the writer and where in the world they are from. In doing so, I feel I am a part of the large family of God.
Some of my family in different places have already read the day’s Bible passage and meditation, have thought about it and prayed; now it’s my turn. In my prayers I include the writer of the meditation. Later, other people will read and pray, making a continuous chain of prayer and blessing encompassing the world. If a line could be drawn from reader to writer all around the world, lines would criss-cross the globe across various time zones, and we would have 24 hours of prayer flooding the world every day.
What an encouraging thought—we all play a small part in the large family of God.
Prayer: Father, hear us as we pray and meditate on your word each day. Amen
